Or maybe a war with Egypt/Russia would have been a perfect excuse for the amount of US kit that the israelis have used for the past Fifty 40 odd years. The US couldnt be seen to directly supply or fund a combatant nation (unlike the 2 world wars, but they were different altogether) as that could have been regarded as an act of aggression, and the US was traditionally seen as a sort of neutral nation, always on the outside looking in. I have recently watched Charlie Wilsons War, in which the US could not be seen to directly fund or supply the Taliban with Weapons to use against the Russian invaders, because, again, this could have been seen as hostile , and in the cold war climate that would have been catastrophic! maybe that was a similar story in 1967.

typical, another case of the US government covering up a dirty little secret, BADLY! I am British, and over here there is a wide spread opinion of distrust of current US policy on the so called war on terror. You look at the US Governments track record when it comes to war, and wanting to pick a fight, they are more than happy to crap on the little guy and then take all the credit (Iraq-the fall of Baghdad). In Iraq there was the incident of Matty Hull of the British army, whose tank was attacked by Warthog “tankbusters”, even though it was clearly identified as friendly on several occasions. The young soldier was killed and the investigation was a series of dead ends and blocks by the US government to cover up a deeper secret, even the pilot was screened, and any attempt to get to the truth and the flight data logs was barred by the DOD. In Afghanistan, the Americans appear to have taken a backseat, letting the British do most of the work. In the early stages of that war, there were several “friendly-fire” incidents. You cant tell me that the most powerful military from the most powerful country on the planet can not shoot straight or tell the difference between a friendly soldier and the enemy! The attack on the USS Liberty was nothing more than a typically American “shoot first ask questions later” policy of war. It is an inherent problem that the US Government either can not or will not shake! I feel sorry for the people of America, because it seems that no matter who you elect, they only want to crap on you from a great height! why would any one want to risk sending their nation into a nuclear war, a type of war where there are no winners?!

I read something on a forum recently that several of the Liberty survivors are planning to do what the Free Gaza movement did by sailing their own version of the USS Liberty to the Sinai coast in defiance of Israel’s blockade. Can you confirm this for me please?

I am sickened by the fact that no one then or now has these brave service men’s back but a rag tag collection true patriots and racist nut jobs. Fuck it. I won’t give up on this. I WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON THIS!

I’m glad to see you are very brave to tell the truth,I’m sorry our goernment is so big on cover up. John Mc Cain knows about this. He’s a cowerd too. You are right Americans need to take back the country and discover the truth and possibly run by the ideas put forth so long ago by our founding fathers.
